Hello - I have recently upgraded my PC and I am now encountering
problems after having installed Borland C++ Builder 5 and nrComm on the
new PC (win2k).  The error I get is a fatal link error, cannot find
COMMPORTREGC5.LIB  I can't find this file on my system even though
nrComm is installed.  I think I may have done something wrong when I
installed it. I would appreciate any assistance that
you could provide so that I could re-build the application that I
developed using nrComm, I have made a minor change to the code and need
to re-release it
Greg

Hello Greg

Thank you for your interest to our product.

The nrComm Lib never contains file COMMPORTREGC5.LIB or any link to
it. You can try to open any demo project from nrComm Lib and all of
them will  be compiled without problems.
It seems like you open an old project that has a dead linker reference.

I recommend you following:

1) Close CBuilder IDE.
2) Open YOURPORJECT.BPR file directly from any plain text editor. For example notepad.exe YOURPORJECT.BPR
3) Find all "COMMPORTREGC5.LIB" words and delete them.
4) Save file and close notepad
5) Open project from CBuilder and try rebuild it again.

Good luck!

Thank you very much for your assistance.  I was able to remove all
references to that library from my project file with a text editor and
everything is working fine now.  I think I know what happened, I
evaluated a number of serial port components before settling on nrComm.
I must not have completely removed one called "CommPort" from the
project and it must have still been installed on the old PC.
Thanks again, Greg
